🎧 1 history

With its immense lagoon in shades of turquoise and its shallow waters, Pointe d’Esny offers one of the most remarkable coastal landscapes in south-east Mauritius.

Did you know?

Pointe d’Esny’s lagoon has significant ecological richness, notably seagrass beds and coastal wetlands nearby. The area is also linked to a major environmental episode in Mauritius’s recent history: in 2020, the bulk carrier MV Wakashio ran aground on the reef off the south-east, causing a major oil spill that affected this particularly sensitive stretch of coastline.
